Lesson Plan Packets
At each Evening for Educators, a packet of lesson plans and visual is made available to the public for a donation of $5. These packets are adaptable to all ages, and include visuals in the form of slides, CDs, or transparencies. Many of these packets are available to download as PDFs below. To download a list of available packets, click here. These packets are made available by the StateWide Art Partnership (SWAP) through the Utah State Office of Education, funded by the Professional Outreach Programs in the State (POPS).
Need help finding the packet you want? If you are just beginning to build your art curriculum, we recommend the Superpackets, Celebrating with Art, Fill in the GAP, and Unlocking the Mystery of Art History. Animals in Art (March 2000)
One of our more popular packets with elementary schools, this packet is based on paintings and sculpture of animals done by artists throughout Utah. The lessons are all based on artistic principles, but there are many connections to other subjects such as Science and Language Arts.

This packet teaches how to "recognize the connections of visual arts to all learning" through hands on interaction, with specific regard to the literary arts.

Art and Democracy: Thematic Teaching Using the Arts
Drawing from the collections of Museums across Utah, this packet is based on a thematic teaching approach. Art and Democracy are the focus of this packet, with lessons discussing social studies topics from the Amistad Slave Revolt to Martin Luther King, jr. While appropriate for all elementary (and younger secondary) audiences, this packet is especially popular with fourth grade teachers.

Visual Culture (February 2004)
This packet is based on the Master's Thesis of an Art Education student at Brigham Young University who served on the SWAP committee, and deals with this important subject. This packet is available free of charge to any high school who schedules the Art Talks program to come to their school.
